The Police Chaplains are Reverend Daniel Bryant and
Reverend Lester Sanders. The Chaplains ride with the officers during
their tour of duty and are on call when needed for crisis
intervention.
On September 4, 2000, Chaplin Dan Bryant responded to assist the
Miami Township Police and Fire Department with the search for two
missing juveniles. He continually kept the two families informed
during a long and dreadful night.
Early in the morning the worst outcome possible was realized when
the two boys were found trapped under water in a pipe within a
retention pond. Chaplin Bryant made the notification to the families
with dignity and compassion, while dealing with the stress of what
he just witnessed.
Chaplin Bryant is the Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Mount
Repose, located on Branch Hill Guinea Pike in Miami Township. He is
a graduate from the University of Cincinnati and Southern
Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
For his outstanding commitment to the department and his community,
the Milford Area Jaycees honored Miami Township Police Chaplin Dan
Bryant as Outstanding Chaplin of the year.
