The following poem was presented at the CPA-VI Graduation on 5-12-2003
By: Class President, Dan Young

Time had passed and it slipped my mind of the survey I had filled out;

Until I had a message that the police had called and I was to give a shout.

My dog wasn't barking and I had no tickets which to pay.

What did the police want with dear old innocent me that day?

A reminder it was of tomorrow's class to which I had earlier signed;

An experience that for future years will not as easily slip my mind.

At first twenty-some strangers filled the room with no rapport;

Minutes later we were in a cruiser heading for the station door.

Many adventures we shared, many friendships were made, and many a places we went,

Covering everything from where the prisoners slept to how much the government spent!

Miami Township we learned from those who are concerned is really quite unique;

If you have not taken the time to learn its design I urge you to take a peek.

The police station is one of the best in the nation keeping us safe and sound;

Using many tools from hi-tech gadgets to their low-tech drug-sniffing hound.

You may think our cozy township is immune to the world's problems and plight;

It seems that way because both night and day our police force is winning the fight.

They teach our children by day the danger of drugs and keep terrorists out of sight;

So many things that they selflessly do not always see so we can sleep well at night!

Peace of mind may be best defined by knowing that every day;

A force of fire and rescue crew are always three digits away.

Fortunately for our community we don't have a township that relaxes;

Now let us go so we can show the public what they're getting for their taxes.

Thank you from the CPA to everyone who dedicated their time and energy;

And to a Chief and his staff who understand the meaning of community!
