  Facilities Maintenance Worker

 

General Description:

The Miami Township Service Department is seeking applicants for the position of Facilities Maintenance Worker.  
The person hired for this position, under direction, maintains the upkeep of facilities and grounds to ensure the 
comfort and safety of the public and employees.  This is a full-time second shift position, forty (40) hours per 
week Monday - Friday 3:00 PM - 11:45 PM.  Some weekend work will be required.  Starting rate of pay is 
$13.62 per hour.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or general education degree.

  2. Experience in building maintenance and janitorial duties.

  3. Valid Ohio Driver's License with good driving record.

  4. 18 years of age.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Performs janitorial duties, event setup & tear down, and landscaping duties.

  2. Inspects designated Township facilities and repairs when necessary.

  3. Empties trash, cleans halls, restrooms, administrative offices; wash windows and maintain cleanliness 
    of all designated Township facilities.

  4. Mows grass, trims bushes, trees, and shrubs, removes snow and treats ice on parking lot, walkways, 
    and designated routes.

  5. Performs routine maintenance and minor repair work on machinery, tools, and equipment related to the 
    care and maintenance of designated Township facilities.

  6. Keeps Facilities Maintenance Supervisor apprised of inventory of supplies and material.

  7. Lift and move up to eighty (80) pounds and a distance of thirty (30) yards.

  8. Follows all safety policies and procedures of Miami Township.

  9. Maintains all required licenses and/or certificates.

  10. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Attends workshops or seminars related to duties performed.

  2. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:  Township policies and procedures; MSDS requirements; public relations; grounds keeping; 
sanitary practices.

Skill in:  building maintenance; janitorial duties; landscaping.

Ability to:  interpret polices, rules, and regulations; carry out detailed but basic written or oral instruction; 
deal with problems involving several variables within familiar context; complete routine forms; communicate 
effectively; recognize safety warnings; read individual words; work alone on most tasks; develop and 
maintain effective working relationships; perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time in often 
adverse conditions; lift up to eighty (80) pounds, and move a distance of thirty (30) yards; operate equipment; 
prioritize assigned duties.

 

Equipment Operated:

Tractor, lawn mower, hand lawn mower, weed eater, shovel pick, pruning shears, roller, saw, ladder, hand 
tools, and various related tools and equipment.
